- Pray More
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. As Christians, we are to pray daily as this is how we communicate with our heavenly father. Just like we have daily conversations with our family and friends, we need to have daily conversations with our Lord and Savior. Even though we know this, we sometimes fall short. So, if we want to live an abundant and blessed life, we need to seek God daily for his direction. Matthew 6:33 says ”but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. We can learn what God desires for us when we humbly ask him for he cares about what concerns us. He said to ”cast all of your care upon him; for he careth for you”. 1 Peter 5:7.
- Practice Worshipping
Worshipping the Lord doesn’t merely take place inside the church. It begins with you. You can worship God in your home, in your car, or at work. Listening to worship or gospel songs is a form of worship that can help keep you encouraged and at peace. It is also important that we worship God in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24 says that “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” It is also important for us to fellowship with one another. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching”. Hebrews 10:24-25. God desires to have our worship. His word says that “we are to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name”. Psalm 100: 4.
- Meditate
We are to meditate on God’s word day and night. Psalm 1: 2-3 says “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does”.
Meditating on God’s word provides us with direction, hope, and peace. It also increases our faith as it is said that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Spending time meditating on God’s word is vital towards helping us mature in our spiritual walk.
